They feel the only way out of this perception is to prove oneself. Work the extra hours, take no breaks, and be at everything themselves.
To them, work is about achieving things to look competent, it is about proving to people that they are what they claim to be. Within them lies a certain type of insecurity that demands them to live for the approval of people.
The superhuman might be seen as a hard worker but this isn’t done from a productive perspective. They don’t work hard to improve their career or grow in their skills. The superhuman work harder so others can see them as a hard worker
The superhuman type of imposter syndrome of all things hates to rest. They hate and avoid rest because they feel they are underserving of it in the first place.
With them already feeling like a fraud in the workplace it is difficult for them to entertain rest. Anytime rest is required there is a feeling of guilt within them that drives them back to work.
Though many people who suffer from the superhuman type of imposter syndrome are rarely aware of their struggle with imposter syndrome and insecurity at work.
They can begin to work on their mindset and approach to work with a conscious redirection of how they see themselves.
You have to understand that you are deserving of anything you have got and any position you find yourself in. See your work as something that helps you enhance skills and develop yourself.
You can choose to work hard but let it be from a place of self-compassion. Let it be from a place of trying to develop your essence and who you are inside. Learn to embrace your work with kindness and empathy
Understand your process and don’t try to rush it. Grow at your own pace and show up every day as you are.
