Let’s have a conversation about your stories. Writers only, please.
We all have something to say and that is the reason you call yourself a writer anyway.
Without stories to tell you wouldn’t be interested in this path and maybe be somewhere doing something else.
Writing is in your blood for a reason and there’s a reason it keeps calling you to sit your ass down and write something.
So what’s your story and are you telling them? If not why are you not telling them and what is stopping you from telling them?
I like my writing to resonate with my audience, I pride myself in that but I am having difficulty writing this because I have never had difficulty telling my story or writing about one.
But I will keep an open mind and try to make this conversational and short. What’s stopping you from writing your story and doing it consistently?
Okay, let’s say you did that once and it didn’t get the traction you expected. There’s a philosophy I call the Axe and the tree which represents Pressure and time.
Nobody hits a tree with an axe and it falls on the first try. If I saw that I would be scared to death, not even Thanos with that strong arms of his can pull that out.
If you hit a tree with an axe and it fell on the first hit you want to be scared, worried, and uncomfortable. If it falls even with the 5th trial you should also be worried.
Time and pressure are a thing even in your career as a writer. It helps you build character, mental rigidity, and resilience. Trust it.
Okay, let’s say the reason you haven’t told your story is because you don’t have time. After all, you have responsibilities and a day job.
24 hours is a whole lot of time in a day especially when 4 hours are the only time we are active as human beings.
Sit down and analyze your day, whether you are the busiest person on earth or the most clueless one you will realize the most important things in your life take up 4 hours of your day.
The rest hours are used for the shenanigans humans have created for themselves- traffic, shouting, talking, overthinking, pretending to be busy, playing Lulu, and sleeping.
So time isn’t a factor here but allocating one is. Now, this is the third and final reason I can come to why you don’t write enough; the fear of opinions.
We live in society so there’s every likelihood that we are surrounded by opinionated, boring, and shitty people. We can’t escape them. You wake up in the morning and boom they are in your face.
But you must learn how to deal with opinions if not you drown yourself and kill everything you can be doing for yourself. People are going to talk because that’s the reason they have a brain that doesn’t work and a mouth that can’t shut.
So please start telling your stories, write consistently, and publish them. It is your story, it is yours to tell. You will be doing me a favor too by not allowing me to go through this type of tedious writing again.
