We hide behind the scenes from our audience when it is the only thing they desire the most and will likely pay anything for.

The idea of storytelling in content and business messages is the invitation to behind-the-scenes access into our business and creation.

So many creators and businesses need help understanding this concept, so they struggle with storytelling. I have come to understand that in this world people think of storytelling as telling a story of something but nobody realizes that that story can be telling your process.

Your process is of interest to your audience and the better you at telling the process the more captivating your content looks to the audience you are creating for.

But there’s a catch here I have also noticed and seen people and businesses make an error. When I say telling people about the behind-the-scenes of your creation I still don’t mean telling the whole process and how you came up with your creation.

This is a simple style of narrating your process and influence within your content but doing it in a way that doesn’t look like you are boring the crowd and audience with how you come up with your ideas.

Artists are great at doing this, they tell the story without telling the story. They tell you their influence and the muse that led them to create such a masterpiece within their work and you don’t even realize it until they open up about it.

You listen to your favorite song or watch your favorite movie and you catch a moment, a love story, or some pain the artist keeps talking about but you don’t realize that this song and the story is the behind-the-scenes motivation of their creation.

The best way I have seen it in business is the latest Samuel L Jackson Warburtons Mad About Bread advertisement. You can see how they took you through their origin story without looking like they were taking you through an origin story. You enjoyed every bit of it and if you haven’t watched it yet Youtube is your friend.
