People underestimate how their environment and the people they surround themselves with have a say or effect on the decisions they take.

The people around you can be the difference between a better life and a life lived in extreme disappointment and frustration.

Who you know and who you are surrounded by influences some of your actions if not most of your actions. This is the reason why it can also be used as a weapon to break out of some mental and psychological problems.

In going further on part 2 of overcoming imposter syndrome in the workplace consciously choosing the people you hang out with can lead to a turnaround in your career.

Surrounding yourself with supportive and encouraging people can bring you out of the pit of excessive doubt and feeling like you don’t belong or are incompetent in the workplace

These people look at your weakness and work on them with you. They will be able to drive the right enlightenment to you and give you the encouragement you need to break out of the feeling of imposter syndrome.

When you walk with people who are confident in their ways and result-oriented, people who are less doubtful of themselves these characteristics will end up rubbing off on you, and in no time you are going to find yourself being the same.

Another way of overcoming imposter syndrome is to reframe negative self-talk and learn to acknowledge our accomplishments.

As I said in the previous article (part 1), many of the things we say to ourselves are not real. These are words that come into our heads because of years of conditioning and not seeing ourselves as deserving.

The fact we are also blinded to our accomplishments also makes us a victim of imposter syndrome. In as much as we are breaking our back to belong and look competent to our colleagues and ourselves we don’t see how far we have come.

Being conscious of the words we say to ourselves and redirecting every negative word spoken can help us start seeing ourselves in a new light.

Also, the more we recognize our accomplishments the more we are going to see that we are not behind nor are we incompetent and not deserving.
